Lupus is a lifelong disease that can affect many parts of your life. Our featured presenter, Jana Long, will address how to Live WELL with Lupus. Ms. Long is a yoga therapist, wellness educator, meditation facilitator, and cofounder and executive director of the Black Yoga Teachers Alliance.

Ms. Long became curious about the efficacy of yoga as a self-care tool when her mother and a sister were diagnosed with lupus. She discovered yoga to be an effective way to improve the overall health and wellbeing. Some of the benefits of yoga for people with lupus include:

     -  Improved flexibility: Yoga can help improve flexibility and range of motion, which can be                      especially beneficial for people with joint pain and stiffness
     -  Reduced stress: Stress can exacerbate lupus symptoms, and yoga has been shown to                      reduce stress and promote relaxation.
     -  Improved sleep: People with lupus often have difficulty sleeping due to pain and discomfort.              Yoga can help improve sleep quality and reduce insomnia.
     -  Improved cardiovascular health: Certain types of yoga, such as vinyasa or power yoga can                 provide a cardiovascular workout that can improve heart health.

Ms. Long will lead you through a series of gentle yoga postures, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques that support the body, mind and spirit of people managing lupus.
