Standing Eight Film Brings Lupus to the Big Screen
Actor Kazy Tauginas releases movie featuring boxer with lupus.
Kazy Tauginas grew up knowing his mom, Vicky, was sick – very sick. Whether she was at the hospital for chemotherapy treatment or she was too fatigued to take part in daily activities – that was just the norm that Kazy knew.
Fast forward and as Kazy pursued a career in acting, he knew that he needed to use his voice and talent for lupus awareness. That’s why he wrote the film Standing Eight, a short about a boxer who is forced to retire after being diagnosed with lupus. Kazy wanted a way to not only honor his mom, a lupus warrior, but to bring lupus to life on film so that others could better understand the disease and the devastating impact it has on each person.
Standing Eight has won eleven film festival awards and is now available on Amazon and Vimeo. Learn more about Kazy and his family’s journey with lupus below, and be sure to watch Standing Eight.
