Providing Answers, Support and Hope in Texas
Meet Dr. Marie De Leon: Neurologist, Lupus Warrior, and Advocate for Hope!
“My journey has been anything but ordinary. I’ve faced thyroid cancer, multiple melanomas, and migraines throughout my life. Then, 17 years ago, I was diagnosed with young onset Parkinson’s disease. As if that weren’t enough, lupus came into the picture five years later, rounding out a lifetime of health challenges. These experiences could have broken me, but instead, they’ve shaped me into someone who sees beauty in resilience, kindness, and the strength to keep going.
Through radiation treatments, surgeries, and the ups and downs of managing progressive diseases, I’ve learned that true beauty radiates from within—a kind smile, a generous act, or the courage to face another day. I’m passionate about showing women, especially those living with chronic illnesses, that they can embrace life to its fullest, with dignity and style. A well-tailored dress or a radiant outlook can be a form of empowerment, reminding us all that our illnesses don’t define us.
As a neurologist, patient, and advocate, I’m honored to be part of the Lupus Foundation of America Lone Star Chapter’s Medical Advisory Board. I’m excited to share my story and insights at the Lupus & You: Brain Fog event on February 6, 2025. Together, we can explore how to navigate these challenges with strength, hope, and community.”
