Providing Answers, Support and Hope in Texas
Meet Francisco LFA Lone Star's New Men's Support Group Leader coming to Thursdays
Before Lupus, I was a DI collegiate athlete at UC Riverside before being drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2014. After a few seasons playing minor league baseball, I finished my degree at the University of Texas at Tyler and after graduating, became an intern and later strength and conditioning coach to pursue my passion to help others.
In June 2020, I started showing symptoms of joint pain, bloodshot eyes, fatigue, fevers, and chills. After 3 major hospital stays, I was diagnosed in September of 2020 with Lupus Nephritis Class IV and Class V. My road to diagnosis is viewed as unconventional compared to the majority of other Warriors who take years to get diagnosed and the only reason it happened so quickly is because Lupus almost took my life.
I am going on 3 years of my journey living with Lupus and am still trying to find the right treatment plan to achieve remission. Lupus flipped my life upside down in more ways than one, as it has for all Lupus Warriors. Even though the fight continues, I am honored to be a part of this Men’s Support Group as I have found comfort, inspiration, and motivation in talking and sharing experiences with other men who can relate. I am grateful fellow Male Lupus Warriors will have another resource with the Lupus Foundation, Lone Star Chapter.
