Donor-Advised Funds
Get Flexibility and Immediate Tax Benefits
With a donor-advised fund (DAF), you can optimize your charitable giving while earning money and receiving immediate tax benefits.
You can set up a DAF through brokerage firms, mutual fund companies or community foundations. The amount needed to open the fund will vary by provider but usually starts at $5,000. Once you set up a DAF, your money is invested in either mutual funds or investment pools so you continue to earn. You can write off the amount you contribute to the fund as a charitable contribution for the year when you create your fund, and you can make donations to your favorite nonprofits at any time.
