The Lupus Foundation of America’s Lupus & You: Philadelphia Empowerment Conference is an in-person event that celebrates, inspires, supports, and uplifts lupus warriors, care partners, family, and friends. The event is designed to empower attendees through expert-led sessions that will help them better navigate a life with lupus and make meaningful connections with other attendees that will last far beyond the day’s event.
There is no fee associated with attending the event.

Lawrence Brent, MD is a Professor of Medicine in the Section of Rheumatology, Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple University. Dr. Brent has over 35 years of clinical experience and has been involved in medical education and research during his entire career. He has expertise in treating patients with systemic lupus erythematosus, spondyloarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and connective tissue disease associated interstitial lung disease.
Dr. Michael Levin, a Philadelphia native, is a board-certified nephrologist and Clinical Professor of Medicine. He is the Chair of the Division of Nephrology at Metropolitan Nephrology Associates and has held multiple administrative titles at various hospitals within the area. Dr. Levin’s clinical interests include hypertension, chronic kidney disease, and dialysis, and he has been featured on Fox News for World Kidney Day.
Dr. Victoria Werth is a Professor of Dermatology and Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and Chief of Dermatology at the Philadelphia VA Hospital. She is internationally recognized for her work in autoimmune skin diseases, including cutaneous lupus and dermatomyositis, and has developed widely used disease severity tools for clinical trials. Dr. Werth is a co-founder of the Rheumatologic Dermatology Society and the Medical Dermatology Society.
Lynnai Jay is a lupus advocate and ambassador with a background in education, holding a BA in Elementary and Early Childhood Education and an MA in Special Education Applied Behavior Analysis. Diagnosed with SLE in 2006, she became involved with the Lupus Foundation of America in 2015, serving as a board member and regional ambassador, and co-facilitating support groups. Despite the challenges of lupus, Lynnai remains dedicated to advocacy and enjoys spending time with her husband and family, with a daily nod to her favorite color, purple.
Erin McEvoy was diagnosed with lupus in 2019 after many years of managing symptoms. She is Vice President of Engagement Strategy at Digitas Health, a digital marketing agency that works with pharmaceutical companies. Erin lives in Havertown, PA with her husband Dave, son Liam and rescue dog Bryn. Her daughter Ryley, who also has lupus, attends college in Ireland.
Marissa Blum is a Professor of Medicine, Section of Rheumatology, and practicing rheumatologist at Temple University Hospital. She has been in practice since 2010 after graduating rheumatology fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania following a medical residency at Johns Hopkins. In addition to her clinical interests in and care for patients with systemic lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and other connective tissue diseases, she has held multiple roles in education administration.
Kimberly DeQuattro, MD, MM is a rheumatologist who cares for individuals with lupus and lupus nephritis at UPenn and CHOP. With an interest in how external factors affect individuals with lupus, she has studied how stress affects people living with lupus and advocates to address health disparities to improve access to care and new lupus treatments.
Stephanie is the lead social worker for the Rheumatology/Renal division at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, providing support to patients with lupus. With a background in child welfare, medical social work, and community-based services, she is dedicated to addressing social barriers that impact healthcare access. Outside of work, Stephanie enjoys traveling, spending time with loved ones, and practicing self-care.
