In Loving Memory of Luz
The story is about my beloved daughter, Luz. She was diagnosed at the age of 11 years old. At the age of 15 her kidneys started being affected by lupus, She was admitted many times. They gave her chemotherapy, she lost her hair. It was very sad to see my child so sick. At the age of 18 she went into a complete shutdown, was in coma for two months. Finally my baby woke up. This was scary because she could go to sleep fine and wake up very ill.
Then the worst came, dialysis, she did it three times a week for 4 hours. Now a kidney donor was needed. Me, her mom, was the perfect match. But her heart was effected and she needed a heart surgery before the kidney transplant. She got sick again, back to dialysis. Things started getting worse. She had poor circulation in her legs, the first surgery on her leg was in 2015. They had to amputate her toe. That’s when our agony started. Then her right leg got bad too, she had 5 surgeries on her leg, and two amputated toes.
I cry many tears, seeing my child in so much pain, she barely slept in two years due to the terrible pain she suffered. After that the changes started, she got really dark, and I kept asking why, nobody knew the answer. As her mom I suffer with her through the years. She never got my kidney, Luz got very ill in August 2018, her veins were infiltrated, they couldn’t dialyze her, she started getting swollen.
She was admitted to the hospital on August 31, 2018 and she passed on SEPTEMBER 6, 2018. A very sad day for me, Carmen, because that day was my birthday. LUPUS is an ILLNESS that it doesn’t show on the outside, but in the inside it could do a lot of damage. SLE took my daughters life, she had just turned 41. My daughter passed 8 months ago. And this is my story. This is why I want to make a difference in the fight for lupus
