Cornonavirus Updates

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has overwhelmed our lives. We all have been affected by the #StayHome orders to help each other and do our part to help our communities throughout these challenging times.

We at the Lupus Foundation of America, Lone Star Chapter understand and care about all who are affected by lupus and one of the most vulnerable populations at risk of contracting COVID-19. This is the reason we must continue serving those who need us most.

06/25/2020 – Texas Is Seeing High Increase in COVID-19 Cases - Texas has been hit hard by COVID-19, especially Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, and Houston. Bexar, Tarrant, and Dallas county have been ordered to wear cloth masks when going out to help prevent the spread of the virus.

The best way we can help prevent the spread is to wear a mask, wash hands frequently, don’t go out if unnecessary, and stay home if you are sick. According to the CDC, the best way to avoid being exposed to the virus is to:

  • Wear a cloth mask and wash it daily
  • Stay 6 feet apart
  • Cough and sneeze into your shoulder or a tissue and wash hands immediately
  • Wash your hand with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
    • That is not available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol and rub on all surfaces of your hands.
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Stay home

When wearing your cloth mask, make sure it covers your nose and mouth and secured tightly around your cheeks and below your chin.
